In the verbal voting held at the Senate General Assembly, Burns reached a sufficient majority and became the first director of diplomat origin in CIA history.
Burns, who previously served as the Deputy Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received significant support from Democrats as well as Republicans.
Burns had stated in the approval session held earlier in the Senate that the United States’ most important global rival is China and that they will take important steps in this regard.
WHO IS WILLIAM BURNS?
